It may not be technically summer on the calendar, but it definitely feels like it here in North Carolina. We’ve already had temps in the 90s and we took our first beach trip of the season this weekend.
After a fun afternoon spent splashing in our pool, my five-year-old loudly exclaimed, “Besides Christmas, Summer is THE BEST!” I could only laugh and agree with him. For me, summer means relaxed schedules, longer days, mornings spent at the pool, and weekends spent exploring. What’s your favorite part about summer?

While school may not be in session during the summer, that doesn’t mean the learning has to stop. I created a fun and easy-to-use booklet to teach my kiddos about the wonderful things God gave us to enjoy during the summertime.
The booklet includes five pages:
- Title (God Gave Us Summer)
- Food
- What to Wear
- Activities
- Fun Summer Learning Activities

These pages will help your children develop their vocabulary while they practice tracing and coloring. The last page of the booklet, Fun Summer Learning, includes some engaging activities that will have the kids counting, identifying beginning letter sounds, completing patterns, reviewing a Bible verse, and tracing words. The purpose of the booklet is to remind the children that God is the One who we have to thank for the blessing of summer!
After the kids have completed all of the pages, you can help them cut out the pages, line them up, and staple them to create a cute booklet.

Have the children lift the flaps and review what they learned on each page – this is a great way for them to practice summarizing information and speaking out-loud. My kids (ages 3 and 5) loved sharing their God Gave Us Summer booklets with Daddy when he came home from work!
Does this sound like something your kids or students would enjoy? I’d love to share a copy of this print-and-go booklet with you for FREE! Click here to download your free copy of the God Gave Us Summer printable booklet.

If you use this with your kiddos, I’d love to hear about it! Tag me on social media @joyinthejourneyteaching.
