One of the highlights of our Florida trip was a day spent at Dry Tortugas National Park! It’s the most remote national park in the continental US (it’s 70 miles off the coast of Key West.) We took a 2 1/2 hour boat ride to the island, explored all over Fort Jefferson (the largest brick structure in the Western Hemisphere), and spent the afternoon snorkeling in the Gulf of Mexico (saw tons of coral and fish of every color of the rainbow!). It was one of our most memorable days ever! What a special memory to share with my favorite adventure partner ❤️

Today we spent a wonderful afternoon picking and sampling strawberries! I think we ate more than we brought home 🤣🤪🍓😍. This was our first time strawberry picking! Have you been before? Anyone make it a yearly tradition?

Look at this sweet drawing my kindergartener made of our family. He said “we’re jumping in the air because we’re so happy God made us a family” 😍😍😍 And don’t worry, my husband doesn’t actually have seven fingers on his left hand - that was artistic license 🤣🤪

Our whole science “curriculum” this year has been focused on the 7 Days of Creation from Genesis 1. We’ve studied landforms, planets, animals, birds, fish, etc. - all through the lens of God creating the Earth. We’ve learned so much - and we’re helping to shape my kindergartener’s worldview at the same time! Today, for Earth Day, we revisited the seven days of creation and my little guy happily chanted the poem he memorized in September as he colored in the days. I am so privileged to be learning alongside this sweet little boy - These days are so cherished! Plus his coloring skills are 😍😍😍

Happy Earth Day!!! 😍🌎 Today I will use this

Happy Earth Day!!! 😍🌎 Today I will use this opportunity to discuss the beautiful creation that God has given us to use and enjoy. We talk through each of the 7 days and what God created on each. Every year I remind my kids that we don’t know worship creation, but rather the Creator, the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth! Then we talk about the idea of stewardship, or using what we’ve been given (time, money, possessions, talents) for God’s glory. And lastly we head outside for a Nature Hunt and explore the beautiful Earth we’ve been given!

Welcome to another week of Prayers for the Teaching Journey!
>>Today, let's pray for FOLLOW-THROUGH.
Teachers, I know you're tired. It's the middle of April. Some of you are in the home stretch while others still have a whole other marking period to go before school is finished for the year. I pray that you would follow through on the commitments you made: to your students, to your administration, and to yourself. Ask for strength from the Lord to finish the year well. We serve a faithful God - He will sustain you. Fix your eyes and mind on Him and follow through on the goals you set for the positive, God-honoring atmosphere you want in your classroom, the enthusiasm you had for reaching your students individually, and the work-life balance you committed to.
We are quick to say that our students need more follow-through in their lives - let's lead by example! Pray that your students would intentionally follow through on their classwork, giving their best effort right until the end. Pray that their hearts would remember the goals they set at the beginning of the year (academically, socially, spiritually) and that they would work diligently to follow through on reaching those goals.
God has not called us to be quitters.
He has not called us to apathy or complacency. He has called us to get on our knees, worship Him as the Creator who does not grow weary, and draw strength from Him so that we can follow through on what He has called us to this year. Don't lose sight of this truth: God has you where you are on purpose. These students - yes, even the one that drives you crazy or keeps you up at night - they are in your classroom on purpose. For their good and yours. The verse for this week is Galatians 6:9, one of my favorites! "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Don't give up, dear teacher! We honor God by following through on our commitments, with attitudes that honor Him and point those around us to Jesus.
