Welcome to another week of Prayers for the Teaching Journey! Today let's pray for GENTLENESS!

We’ve all lost our temper in the classroom. There is nothing quite like that sinking feeling in your stomach when you see a look of hurt or disappointment cross your student’s face. Whenever that happened to me as a preschool teacher, I usually would send the students outside with my assistant (if I had the time) and take a breather. Then after a moment of reflection, I’d take the student aside and apologize for losing my cool. I’d usually ask them to clarify their questions or desires from that previous situation and try to smooth things over as much as I could. As humbling as it is to apologize to a student, it almost always heals an otherwise sticky situation. We won’t always be gentle, but we can still ask the Lord to give us gentleness in our apologies and future behavior!

-Pray for gentleness with your students. Pray that you would speak softly, respond kindly and react patiently. Pray that you would be someone students can trust to hear and understand them. Pray that you would have their best interests at heart.
-Pray for gentleness with your co-workers. Pray that you would refrain from gossip, lend a listening ear and be patient when they make mistakes. Pray that you would exemplify Christ to them with a gentle spirit.
-Pray for gentleness with your family. Pray that you would be patient and kind when your children ask a hundred questions and make it difficult for you to complete your tasks. Remember that "a gentle answer turns away wrath" (Prov. 15:1). Pray that you would pull them close and show them you care by sitting on the floor and playing or reading with them.

This week’s verse is from Philippians 4:5: “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.”

By being gentle with others, we are showing them that the Lord is near - near to me and near to you. Let’s please the Lord with our behavior and actions by being gentle this week!

Welcome to another week of Prayers for the Teaching Journey! We're continuing our study of the fruit of the spirit. Today let's pray for FAITHFULNESS!

God’s faithfulness is one of my favorite attributes of His - to praise Him in worship for and to talk to others about. I think I can safely say we have all experienced God’s faithfulness throughout our lives. From saving us when we asked for forgiveness to seeing us through a difficult trial, God has been faithful to see me through each day. As He has been faithful to us, we must all be faithful to Him - to the best of our ability and with the help of the Holy Spirit. Faithfulness here on earth looks a lot like following through on our commitments and attending to the tasks He has given us in each season of our lives.

Let's pray:
-Pray for faithfulness in your work. Whether you are lesson planning at home, prepping your classroom or in the middle of teaching your students, pray that you would see each task to completion. Pray that you would walk away from each knowing you put in your best effort.

-Pray for faithfulness in your home. Whether you are cooking, cleaning, wiping noses or calming a tantrum, pray that you would have the patience and endurance to see these tasks through. There is no higher calling than taking care of your family.

-Pray for faithfulness at church. Pray that you would ask “how can I help?”, not “what can the church do for me?” Pray for ways to get involved, volunteer, help with events, and serve the body of Christ. Bless someone else with your time and energy and pray that you do so with a grateful heart.

This week’s verse is from Proverbs 3:3-4: "Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man."

Thank you, Lord, for your faithfulness in our lives and for never leaving us alone. Help us to be faithful in every area of our lives for Your glory.

Welcome to another week of Prayers for the Teaching Journey! Today let's pray for GOODNESS!
As we continue our study of the fruit of the spirit, this week we're praying for goodness. Left to our flesh, there is nothing 'good' in our sinful selves. However, as believers, we can image our good God and share goodness with the world through obedience to God's Word and actions that align with His character. By reflecting God’s goodness to others, we are extending kindness, patience, love, etc. God has shown us His goodness to us - now we can show goodness to those in our path, for His glory!

Let's pray:
-Pray that you would reflect the Lord’s goodness in your classroom. Extend forgiveness and patience to your students. Pray for a smile to brighten your face and joy to fill your classroom with warmth and welcome.
-Pray that you would reflect the Lord’s goodness in your home. Pray that you would be kind and loving to your husband and children. Pray that you would seek to understand them and show compassion when they are stepping on your toes.
-Pray that you would reflect the Lord’s goodness at your church. Pray that you would be the person who sits next to someone new. Pray that you would be the person who asks your friend how their week *really* went. Pray that you would serve your ministry with a joyful heart.

This week’s verse is from Galatians 6:10 - "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."

We can demonstrate our love for God and for others by sharing His goodness at every opportunity.

Welcome to another week of Prayers for the Teaching Journey! Today let's pray for KINDNESS!

Has someone shown you kindness this week? Maybe they brought you a meal when you were sick, encouraged you when you were down, or gave you a listening ear when you needed solace. How did it make you feel? It can be the simplest things that mean the world to us, like when someone at church asks us to sit next to them. How much kinder is our own Lord and Savior who came down from heaven to die on the cross for our sins! Romans 2:4 says that the kindness of the Lord leads us to repentance. As the Lord has shown us so much kindness throughout our lives, let’s encourage each other to extend the same grace toward those in our homes and classrooms this week.
Let's pray:
-Pray that the Lord would lay on your heart a few people to specifically show kindness to this week. Pray that He would give you ideas of how to tangibly demonstrate God’s love to them.
-Pray for God’s forgiveness and mercy when you make mistakes. Although we have been saved through faith, we are still sinners - and we are not always kind. Especially as teachers, students can turn our moods so quickly! Apologize when necessary and take it as an opportunity to start over and try again tomorrow.
-Pray that you would be quick to be kind and loving and slow to anger and judgment. There are some people in your life that are hard to love and maybe you don’t feel like they “deserve” your kindness. Show them kindness anyway - it’s what we’re called to do as followers of Christ.

This week’s verse is from Isaiah 54:8: “‘But with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,’ says the Lord your Redeemer.”

Thank God that He sees past our transgressions when we ask Him for forgiveness and He wipes our slates clean! Jesus’s sacrifice washes away our sins and makes them as pure as snow. What lavish kindness!

Welcome to another week of Prayers for the Teaching Journey! As we are continuing our series on the fruit of the spirit, let's pray for PATIENCE.
Many times throughout Scripture we are asked to be patient through trials. Those verses stand as good reminders that our prayers are often “God, take this away from me” instead of “God, teach me something through this”. I know I’m guilty of this all the time. I’d much rather push through an uncomfortable situation or sad circumstance than sit in it and learn from it. It takes humility to trust that God has put us in specific trials for a reason and that He will take us out of it in His own good timing. Let’s pray together that we would be patient through those difficult days and ask the Lord to bless our patience!

-Pray that the Lord would give you peace and comfort through your trials. He is our Refuge, Our Strength and He cares about you! It’s okay to be sad, frustrated and tired. Give all these feelings over to Him.
-Pray that you would use this trial as an opportunity to point others to Christ. Be honest with others how God is protecting you and taking care of you during this season. Show them that it is only by His strength that you go through each day.
-Pray that your patience and trust in the Lord would be rewarded. Pray that He would give you grace and mercy each morning (He always does!) and let the trial pass in His own good timing. Pray that you would not waste this trial, but bring glory to Him through it!
-Pray that you would learn valuable life lessons through your suffering and that you would become a stronger believer because of it. Pray that He would increase your faith.

This week’s verse is from James 5:7: “Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.”

When the Lord returns, He will wipe away our tears and there will be no more pain! Until then, rely on His strength and be patient, trusting that He will take care of you!
