As a mom of three young kids, I am always on the lookout for new books we can read together as a family. I love stories with interesting plots, relatable characters, and good lessons – a book gets major bonus points if it has a Christian message/theme that engages my kids and helps to shape their worldview.
When author Jacqueline Michelle reached out and asked if I would read and review her book, Adventures in the Bible: The Key of Courage, I was immediately intrigued and excited to get my hands on a copy.

The book tells the story of three 7-year-olds, Jordan, Amaya, and Grant, who find a mysterious glowing key that unlocks a magical lock on a Bible. The kids are instantly transported to Persia in Bible times where they meet Queen Esther, Mordecai, Haman, and the King. Through the adventure, the kids experience the importance of courage and speaking up for what is right. The characters learn that having courage doesn’t mean you aren’t ever afraid, but rather it’s doing something you know is right, even if you are afraid. The book tells the story of Esther from the Bible in a fun and engaging way that will allow kids to relate to and remember long after they close the last page.

This book, Adventures Into the Bible: The Key of Courage was written for kids ages 6-9. If your children are fans of the Magic Tree House books, they will love this new series from Jacqueline Michelle. The characters are funny and accessible. My kids and I read through the book in 2 days – and my son has already started re-reading it on his own.
The book contains hand-drawn illustrations (drawn by Jowaan Sullivan) and discussion questions for parents or teachers to use after they’ve read the book:

We were very thankful to be introduced to this book – and so excited to see that the author is making this a series! The second book, The Key of Faith, is coming out this month!
