One of my favorite birthday traditions is to get a children’s book that matches the theme of my child’s party and use it as a guest book! I measure the inside cover and then print out a paper and glue it on the book. If we have a large crowd coming I’ll glue a page on the back cover as well.
During the party I set it out on the counter and have each guest/family write a little note to the birthday kid.

My kids love looking back through their “birthday books” and reading the heartfelt birthday wishes from their friends and family. In the past, if family was far away and unable to attend the party, I would have them email a note and I’d glue it in the book. Quick Easy

If you don’t do a theme for the party you could use any book your kid likes or get one that corresponds to the age they are turning (there’s a whole series of now you’re one, now you’re two, etc.).
Here are some generic birthday books that you could use:
- Happy Birthday from the Very Hungry Caterpillar
- Curious George and the Birthday Surprise
- Happy Birthday – Touch and Feel
- The Perfect Birthday Recipe
